What I’ve been doing…

by Josh Opinion on October 18, 2010

A list of what I’ve been up to and why I haven’t been updating my blog:

  1. Spending as much time as possible finding interviews, presentations, etc. of people who worked successfully in lean startups to find patterns of thought and practice of how they created space and buzz for their products/services in competitive landscapes.
  2. Re-launched a concept website with heavy emphasis on Facebook integration, realizing I am not a developer nor designer, further realizing I am too stubborn and will figure out a way to make it happen.
  3. Been trying to find sponsorships for a non-profit event in Tampa.
  4. Working and talking with the amazingly talented team at ItStartsWith.Us
  5. Thinking about personal finance and investments- whole life insurance is one of the best long term financial decisions you can make, buy as much as you can while you are young.
  6. Focusing a lot of attention on Facebook advertising and how Edgerank works (replace Facebook with Google and Edgerank with Pagerank and go back about 4-5 years and think about what that would have meant in hind site.)
  7. Sites I am obsessed with right now: Quora, Mint.com, my top secret list of sites on my Google Reader (I had a brief obsessions with DailyBurn but there is too much data input on a user end IMO to make it work.). The Mixergy podcast and old Web 2.0 shows are full of good stuff for your iPod.
  8. Learning about game dynamics and their applications on the social web.
  9. Less reading, more doing.
  10. Getting ready for Movember- creating the team, creating the campaign, and making sure my team sets an example of how to raise awareness for a great cause.
  11. Wondering why I still play fantasy football.
  12. Rethinking things in the social media marketing space.
