Who Cares?

by Josh Opinion on September 13, 2010

I was reading Noah Kagan’s blog the other day about top phrases that were overused or he was tired of hearing. One was “Your company needs a blog” with something after it like, “do people really care what your company has to say?”.

A lot of people are getting into this personal branding thing, myself included, but the post made me think- what makes people truly care.

There is a lot of expert advice out there on any industry, niche, market, etc. You can get a great education from most of it for free.

Why would someone care about you when there is already an established presence by multiple personalities who truly do have expert status (not just rehashing content in their own words).

But what is going to make you stand out from the rest?

What about if the focus wasn’t about trying to build yourself as an expert or an authority, but to build a community of highly passionate people to carry ideas forward?

Who cares in that scenario?

An entire community cares and you eliminate the need to target others to buy into you.
